Convenience store clerk shot; suspects at large

Police in Beaumont are searching for three suspects who robbed a local convenience store and shot a clerk working at the store April 19, Beaumont Police Department Sgt. James Cody Guedry reports.

According to Guedry, officers responded to the Stop and Go in the 2300 block of Louisiana shortly after 9:30 p.m. in reference to an aggravated robbery in progress. Officers arrived within several minutes to find the clerk suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder area.

During the investigation, officers learned that three suspects entered the store wearing gloves and clothing covering their faces. Upon entering the store, one of the suspects immediately shot the clerk. The suspects then moved to the cash drawer, removing money and then exiting the store.

The clerk was listed in stable condition and being treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital at the time of the news release April 20. Police are examining evidence, including store video, and updates are pending, reports Guedry.
