In a short ceremony in the presence of family and friends, Cory Crenshaw was sworn in as Jefferson County's newest district attorney after the office was vacated late last year.

The news came Monday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2014, and soon thereafter, Crenshaw was sworn in, with the oath of office administered by Criminal District Court Judge John Stevens.

Crenshaw was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas under John M. Bales before being appointed as Jefferson County's interim district attorney.

Crenshaw holds a bachelor's degree from Baylor University and a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.
