Court employee alleged shooter in Beaumont homicide

Charlsie Jones, a longtime legal assistant at the 9th Court of Appeals, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and charged with murder after Beaumont Police detectives allege she shot her husband to death Saturday, April 30.

According to Beaumont police, officers were dispatched to the West End home the two shared in the 600 block of 22nd Street, finding 60-year-old Lee Jones dead at the scene. Charlsie Jones, the deceased’s 57-year-old wife, was the only other occupant found in the home. She was taken into police custody, and charged with one count of murder. Jones was being held on a $1 million bond and a mental health hold as of Monday, May 2.

According to information from the 9th Court, Jones has been an employee of the agency for approximately 17 years.
