Crash shuts down Interstate 10 for hours in Orange County

At approximately 5 p.m. Saturday, March 3, a one-vehicle crash near mile marker 859 in Orange County shut down westbound Interstate 10 for about two hours.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling westbound on Interstate 10. For an unknown reason, the vehicle struck the inside concrete wall, traveled back across the westbound traffic lanes and struck the outside concrete wall. Upon impact, the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, 50-year-old Daniel Martinez of Spring, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead by Dr. Dave Parkus at 5:42 p.m.

All westbound traffic lanes was closed for approximately two hours.
