Crews work to clean up oil spill after crane accident injures one

Crews were working April 23 to clean up an oil spill following a crane accident that injured one person, reports the Port Arthur Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a report of a crane that had turned over on S. First Avenue in Sabine Pass. On arrival, crews found a subject complaining of back pain on a boat. They removed him from the boat and transported him to a hospital for medical treatment of his injuries, which were not life-threatening according to PAFD.

The toppled crane was leaking oil into the waterway, and PAFD notified chemical cleanup crews to take over the scene.
