Crime Stoppers, sheriff's office looking for armed robbery suspect

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's assistance finding the suspect who robbed Snappy's convenience store at 213 E. Highway 90 in China Sept. 24, Deputy Marcus McLellan stated in a news release.

According to McLellan, deputies responded to the store after receiving a report that an armed robbery had just occurred at the "Snappy’s" Price Wise Convenience Store. Investigators reportedly learned that the suspect entered the store, went to the register and pointed a handgun at the cashier while demanding money from the register.  The suspect also allegedly went to the register at the Subway counter located inside the store and demanded money from that cashier. After collecting the money from the two cashiers, the suspect fled south on foot to Beaumont Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6-foot-3, wearing dark clothing and brandishing a black handgun. McLellan reported that the suspect was also wearing a bright pink bandana across his nose and mouth and bright blue gloves.

No one was injured during the robbery.

McLellan requests that anyone with information about this crime call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at (409) 835-8411 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (409) 833-TIPS (8477).
