Deadly dice game

A dice game erupted into a shootout Thursday night, May 3. 

According to a press release from the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded to the area of Ewing and North in reference to shots fired and were advised about a possible shooting victim. While officers were en route to the call, three shooting victims showed up at St. Elizabeth’s emergency room. Some officers went to the North and Ewing to look for the scene and others went to the hospital. The preliminary investigation revealed the victims were involved in a dice game when an argument escalated and shots were fired. 

One 52-year-old Beaumont man was shot multiple times and was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. A 34-year-old Beaumont man was shot multiple times but is stable.  A 28-year-old Beaumont man was shot and had a non life-threatening wound.

The deceased victim has been identified as Gregory Willridge, a 52-year-old Beaumont man.

Detectives are taking statements from witnesses and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking that any witnesses please come forward and speak with an investigator.
