Deputies arrest LC-M student for weapons

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested a Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School student for possession weapons on campus late Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 13, Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD Community Relations Coordinator Sherry Combs revealed in a news release. The student was also reportedly in possession of alcohol.

According to Combs, administrators at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School received a tip that a student had a ”fake” gun that he was trying to sell on campus. The situation was investigated immediately, and it was determined that the student was trying to sell a BB pistol and large knife. Additionally, the student was found to be in possession of alcohol.

According to district protocol, the sheriff’s department was notified and the student was arrested. Under the Texas Education Code, having an illegal weapon at school is a "must expel" disciplinary consequence.
