Deputies arrest robbery suspect in Vidor

A tip from a concerned citizen led Orange County deputies to a suspect in three separate robberies of area convenience stores, reports the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

According to Criminal Investigator and Public Information Officer Janois Grizzaffi, deputies responded to OJ's Mobile Mart, located at 9508 Highway 12 in Orange County at about 7 a.m. on March 29 in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. The suspect fled in an unknown direction after taking a large amount of cash from the clerk at gunpoint.

Investigators who were working the case followed a lead to Vidor where they arrested Zachary Harris for unrelated warrants. During an interview of Harris, he reportedly not only confessed to the robbery at OJ’s Mobile Mart, but to two others as well. Grizzaffi reports Harris told deputies he also robbed Lakeview Grocery on March 17 and another store in Port Arthur on March 27. His alleged robbery spree ended with him behind bars at the Orange County Jail with charges filed against him for the robbery at OJ’s Mobile Mart. Other charges are pending.

This robbery, along with other similar cases, is currently still under investigation.
