Detours on I-10 for new Brush Island overpass

UPDATE: The Brush Island Bridge construction has been rescheduled, TxDOT spokesperson Sarah Dupre said in a release.

Weather permitting, demolition of the Brush Island Bridge structure will require nightly closures of I-10 the week of June 26, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During the closures, I-10 main lane traffic between SH 73 and FM 365 will be detoured onto FM 365, SH 124, and SH 73. Additional signage and police enforcement will be placed along the detour route to accommodate the traveling public and promote safety.

The bridge demolition is expected to be completed during the night of June 26 and 27.

As part of the current I-10 widening project from TX 73 to Hamshire Road in Chambers and Jefferson County, the existing Brush Island Bridge, which crosses over I-10, will be replaced with a new overpass, TxDOT spokesperson Sarah Dupre said in a release.

Weather permitting, demolition of the Brush Island Bridge structure will require nightly closures of I-10 the week of June 19th, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During the closures, I-10 main lane traffic between TX 73 and FM 365 will be detoured onto FM 365, TX 124, and TX 73. Additional signage and police enforcement will be placed along the detour route to accommodate the traveling public and promote safety.

Please note: The I-10 frontage roads are not continuous in this area; thus, not a viable detour. They will however, remain open for local traffic.

The demolition requiring the closures is estimated to take four nights:

June 19 - Monday night: I-10 westbound traffic detoured

June 20 - Tuesday night: I-10 eastbound traffic detoured

June 21 - Wednesday night: I-10 eastbound traffic detoured

June 22 - Thursday night: I-10 westbound traffic detoured
