DPS investigates fatal weekend crash

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a fatal weekend crash that claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman Aug. 18, reports Sgt. Stephanie Davis. 

According to Davis, troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash on US-90 in Jefferson County at about 10:30 p.m.  The crash occurred approximately two (2) miles west of Beaumont.

Initial reports indicate that a silver 2012 Kia passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on US-90.  A red 2012 Kia passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on US-90.  For an unknown reason, the vehicles collided in the center of the roadway.

The driver of the silver Kia, a 38-year-old female from Gun Barrel City, Texas, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. She did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased by emergency medical personnel at St. Elizabeth hospital. Her name will not be released until next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the red Kia, 21-year-old Jack Thode of Beaumont, sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital.

The passenger of the red Kia, a 21-year-old female from Beaumont, was also transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with unknown injuries.

All information is preliminary as troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.

At this time, there are no additional details to be released.
