DPS urges caution after crash causes death

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued a warning for drivers to use caution after a crash in Jasper County lead to a vehicle roll over.

According to a press release rom DPS, Preliminary reports indicate that a 2016 BMW passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on US-96.  Due to the inclement weather and wet road conditions, the driver lost control and traveled off the roadway.  The vehicle rolled over before coming to rest in a ditch.

The driver of the vehicle, 52-year-old Linda Bradford of San Augustine, was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial hospital with serious injuries.  Bradford has since been transported to a hospital in Houston for further treatment.

The passenger, 89-year-old Mamie Bradford of San Augustine, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Jasper Memorial hospital.  Mamie Bradford did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Ronny Billingsley at the hospital.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area and stay alert for emergency vehicles.
