Drive-by suspects in police custody

Law enforcement officials from two counties worked in conjunction to nab men investigators believe are responsible for a May 10 drive-by shooting in the city of Beaumont.

According to Beaumont Police, two white males in a Ford pick-up truck drove down the 6900 Block of Glenwillow, shooting as they rolled. Officers arrived on the scene and confirmed there were no injuries, but witnesses reported that the suspects fired several shots from an unknown type firearm in the direction of two men and a woman standing outside on Glenwillow.

Beaumont Police and the Jasper County Sheriff's Office located and arrested two suspects, 18-year-old Coridon James Burkhardt of Beaumont and 19-year-old Mason Scott Black of Beaumont. The pair was found hiding in Buna on May 12.

Both men were transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Burkhardt was booked for two counts of terroristic threats and four counts of deadly conduct warrants. Black was booked for four counts of deadly conduct.

Investigation in the shooting revealed that the suspects had been called to the residence on Glenwillow to fight the two male victims and reports have surfaced that there has been a long-term disturbance between the two groups.
