Ecstasy: police arrest suspect for possession
Police arrested a suspect for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance after discovering pot and what officers believe to be 20 ecstasy pills during a traffic stop on April 14, reports the Orange Police Department.
According to a report from Officer Justin Kirkpatrick, he stopped a red Ford Mustang for traveling on 16th Street with the taillights not illuminated. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Kirkpatrick noticed the passenger seemed to be holding the glove box shut with his hand.
The officer instructed the passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Victor Hernandez of Orange, to let go of the glove box door. When Hernandez complied, the officer reports, a clear plastic bag with what appeared to Kirkpatrick to be marijuana fell out of the glove box.
A further search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 20 "multi-colored" pills that Kirkpatrick tentatively identified as ecstasy, a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance. The weight of the substance was determined to be approximately 3 grams, according to police, making it a third-degree felony.
Hernandez was taken to the Orange County Jail.
