Elderly Jasper man dies in crash on Highway 63

On August 20, at about 12:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 63, near FM 2799 and CR 110, in Jasper County.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2015 Dodge Durango was traveling westbound on Highway 63. A 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on CR 110. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front on the Dodge. The Dodge Durango struck the Chevrolet pickup truck in the driver-side door.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, Charles Moss Jr., 93, of Jasper, was transported to Jasper Memorial hospital with serious injuries. Moss did not survive his injuries and passed away a short time later.

The passenger of the Chevrolet pickup truck, a 75 year old woman from Jasper, was transported to Jasper Memorial hospital. Her injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

The driver of the Dodge, a 33 year old woman from Jasper, was also transported to Jasper Memorial hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing crash investigation and there are no further details to be released.
