Fatal auto-pedestrian accident claims life of Vidor man

A man trying to cross the highway was struck and killed in an auto-pedestrian accident April 28, reports the Orange Police Department (OPD). 

According to OPD Capt. W. K. Longlois, officers responded to the south I-10 service road at SH 62 at about 4:45 p.m. in reference to a report of the accident. Officers arrived to find that Ernest Lee Brown, a 56-year-old Vidor resident, had attempted to cross the south service road in front of a stopped truck tractor. As Brown crossed the street, the truck tractor proceeded through the intersection when the stop light turned green. The truck tractor struck Brown, resulting in his death, OPD reported.  

Judge Joy Dubose-Simonton pronounced Brown dead at the scene. The Orange Fire Department and Acadian EMS also responded to the accident. 

The investigation in ongoing with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Longlois stated in a news release.
