Fatal auto-pedestrian crash on College Street

A 25-year-old Beaumont man died after being struck by a car on College Street in Beaumont on June 25, reported Sgt. Cody Guedry of the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

According to Guedry, police responded to a report of a subject lying in the roadway unresponsive after being struck by a vehicle in the 6300 block of College Street at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday night. Responding officers discovered the victim was deceased.

The BPD Traffic unit responded and conducted an investigation. They reportedly learned that the victim was observed stumbling westbound in the middle lane of traffic. Witnesses on scene attempted to get the man’s attention and get him to the side of the roadway. After multiple unsuccessful attempts, a vehicle traveling eastbound on College struck the man, identified by police as William Russell Johnson, 25, of Beaumont. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
