Fatality: police in Orange investigate deadly accident

Police in Orange are investigating a deadly auto-pedestrian accident that claimed the life of an Ohio resident Oct. 9, Orange Police Department Lt. Garrold Keaton reports. 

According to a news release, officers were dispatched to the area of 2080 I-10 North Service Road shortly after 10 p.m. in reference to an auto-pedestrian traffic accident. Acadian Ambulance Service was called to the scene, but were unable to resuscitate the 44-year-old male victim, who had been struck by a vehicle still on the scene.

Justice of Peace Derry Dunn was contacted and responded to the scene, subsequently ordering an autopsy. Shavers Mortuary Transport Services was contacted and transported the victim to the Jefferson County Morgue at the direction of Judge Dunn.

Assistance on-scene was provided by the Orange Fire Department. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
