Fire on Folsom in Beaumont

Fire on Folsom

Beaumont firefighters battled a structure fire at a small apartment complex on Folsom Drive Thursday afternoon, according to a report from the Beaumont Fire Department.

Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to the fire reported at 5448 Folsom Dr. at approximately 2:45 p.m. on April 17. When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the roof of a one-story building housing five apartments. No residents were home at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries reported. The fire was confined to an apartment at the end of the building with damage to the attic space and roof. According to investigators, maintenance workers using a torch to do some plumbing work ignited the fire in a wall of the structure. The fire traveled up the wall and into the attic. The apartment damaged by the fire was vacant, so no one was displaced as a result of the incident. One other apartment had minor smoke in the apartment but reportedly habitable.
