Firefighters battle a blaze at a popular pizza restaurant on July 2.

Mazzio's Pizza in Beaumont is temporarily closed, Beaumont Fire and Rescue reports, after a structure fire caused damage to the restaurant.

According to a news release from the Beaumont fire department, at approximately 7:24 p.m. on July 2, Fire Rescue units responded to a structure fire at Mazzio's Pizza located at 5025 Eastex Frwy. When firefighters arrived, they found the roof on fire at the rear of the building.

Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and confine the blaze to a small area of the roof. Employees and customers were evacuated without injury before firefighters arrived. The fire was reportedly caused by "hot work" being done on the roof of the building.
