Fire on Pipkin in Beaumont

Beaumont firefighters battled an afternoon blaze on Tuesday, May 27, the fire department reports.

Just before 1:00 PM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire at 590 E Pipkin. When firefighters arrived they found a two story structure with flames visible from windows on the first and second floors. Firefighters made a quick attack and were able to control the fire within fifteen minutes. The building was a former fraternity house. It was vacant with no utilities connected. The fire appears to have been deliberately set. There were no injuries and the investigation is continuing.
