Members of the Beaumont Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 399 and the Nederland Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 3339, together with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will fan out across their respective cities Friday, April 22, with boots in hand for the annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help free kids and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility.

Look for Beaumont firefighters at major intersections in the city. In Nederland, firefighters will be collecting donations at Nederland Avenue and 27th Street from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

For 62 years, firefighters have fueled MDA’s mission to find treatments and cures for life-threatening muscle diseases.

Funds raised through the 2016 Fill the Boot will help support MDA’s efforts to advocate for individuals and families affected by muscle disease; rally communities to fight back; and assist families with lifesaving help and day-to-day support – which includes sending children affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases to a weeklong, barrier-free MDA summer camp at Camp for All in Burton, Texas

The Fill the Boot campaign also helps support MDA’s worldwide research program and national network of 200 specialized medical clinics, including the MDA Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital and Methodist Neurological Institute.
