Firefighters respond to early morning fires blocks apart

Two structure fires just minutes and blocks apart kept Beaumont firefighters busy this morning, Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

According to Captain Brad Penisson, at 1:39 a.m., Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a structure fire at 2450 Blanchette Street. When firefighters arrived, they found a dwelling with flames showing on one corner. The home was found to be vacant. Firefighters were able to quickly control the fire and contain fire damage to one room and the attic area above. The cause of the fire was determined to be deliberate.

At 1:46 a.m., other Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to another structure fire at 2315 Harriot Street. Those firefighters found a dwelling with flames showing through the roof. This home was also found to be vacant. The fire caused heavy damage and the roof collapsed. The cause of this fire was also determined to be deliberate.
