Firefighters in Beaumont battled two blazes in two days at two separate residences, one vacant and one occupied, Beaumont Fire-Rescue reports.

According to a news release from Capt. Brad Penisson, firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 1600 block of Turon in Beaumont at approximately 4:02 a.m. May 27. Upon their arrival, they found a one-story dwelling fully involved by fire. The house was vacant with no utilities connected. The fire appears to be deliberate in origin, and the incident is still under investigation.

The day before, May 26, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Beaumont Fire-Rescue units responded to a structure fire reported in the 5200 block of Idylwood Street. When they arrived, firefighters found the front room of the home heavily involved with flames. They made a quick attack and confined the fire to two rooms, though there was smoke damage throughout the house.

The two occupants of the home were able to escape without injury before firefighters arrived.

The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical short. The American Red Cross is assisting the two occupants.
