Five-vehicle crash sends nine to hospital

On Sunday, October 18, 2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a five-vehicle crash occurred on US 69 at Oil Field Road in Hardin County. The collision sent nine people to area hospitals.

According to Trooper Stephanie Davis, since all occupants of the multiple-vehicle crash were transported to receive medical attention, the specific details of the incident are unclear. Troopers believe the initial crash was a head-on collision between a Mercedes and a Nissan, and three other vehicles crashed into those two.

The driver of the Mercedes, 57-year-old Mark Jefferson of the Woodlands, and his front passenger were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the Nissan, 21-year-old Ashley Shows of Silsbee, and her front passenger were also transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The rear passenger of the Nissan, a minor child, was transported by medical helicopter to Hermann Memorial hospital in Houston with unknown injuries.

The driver of a Toyota pickup truck, 43-year-old Scott Paulino of Lumberton, and his front passenger were transported by ambulance to a local hospital, as were Tiffany Jackson, the 26-year-old driver of a black Chevrolet pickup truck from Silsbee, and Lynn Williams, the 47-year-old driver of a tan Chevrolet pickup truck from Beaumont.

The information is preliminary and Troopers are diligently working to investigate and determine specific factors that contributed to this crash.
