Fleeing fugitive can't outrun Beaumont's finest

A man wanted on a felony warrant in Harris County was arrested in Beaumont March 23 after officers caught up with the suspect as he fled from them during a traffic stop.

According to BPD Officer Carol Riley, an officer stopped the vehicle, a 2008 Chevy HHR, for a traffic violation at about 9 a.m. in the 4500 block of Folsom. When the officer attempted to ID the driver, he put the car into drive and fled. The suspect drove down Folsom to Lucas, crashing the car into a gate at the Salt Water Barrier.  The suspect fled into the woods on foot, but was soon detained and arrested by pursuing officers.

The suspect was identified as Joshua Lamont Roberts, a 30-year-old Beaumont man with a Harris County felony warrant for evading detention with a motor vehicle.

Roberts was transported to Jefferson County Jail and booked in for evading in a motor vehicle, traffic violations and the Harris County warrant.
