Four suspects captured after evading arrest in alleged stolen car

On Feb. 22, at about 11:00 a.m., Beaumont Police located a stolen vehicle in the area of Eastex Freeway and Lucas Drive, Officer Haley Morrow reported. The vehicle had been reportedly stolen in an aggravated robbery in Houston, several days prior.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle; however, the driver and its two other occupants refused to stop. The suspects continued to evade arrest and detention in the vehicle, before stopping in the 3500 block of Delaware Street and fleeing on foot. The Beaumont Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit and K-9 Unit, along with the Auto Theft Task Force, were able to locate the three suspects from the vehicle along with several firearms.

Additional investigation led to the apprehension of a fourth suspect. The suspects are identified as Darrel Paul Williams, a Beaumont man who has an outstanding Jefferson County warrant for murder, Gerrick Leon Wade of Houston, Micah Ledell Johnson, of Houston, and Eric Ray Johnson, of Houston.

The suspects were taken into federal custody on robbery and firearms conspiracy charges. This investigation is still on-going and we will release more information as it becomes available.
