Free family law advice for veterans in Beaumont
Press release from the Jefferson County Bar Association:
Veterans who need legal advice or legal assistance in the area of family law can visit a FREE legal seminar at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at the Beaumont VA Outpatient Clinic located at 3420 Veterans Circle, Beaumont, TX. The seminar is a public service of the Jefferson County Bar Association’s Veterans Legal Initiative.
Due to space limitations, appointments are encouraged by calling the bar office at (409)835-8647. Any veteran, or spouse of deceased veteran, can receive advice from a volunteer attorney in the area of family law. Veterans who need ongoing legal representation and who qualify for legal aid may be assigned a pro bono attorney to handle their case.
The JCBA’s legal seminar is part of the statewide Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans (TLTV) initiative, a program begun by the State Bar of Texas and funded by The Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF) to ensure that organized legal clinics exist throughout the state to specifically assist military veterans who cannot afford or do not have access to basic legal services. TAJF is the leading funder of civil legal aid to the poor in Texas. Created in 1984 by the Supreme Court of Texas, TAJF awards millions of dollars per year that benefits hundreds of thousands of low-income Texans annually including victims of crime, abused and neglected children, veterans, the elderly and the homeless.
