Gallons of liquid meth seized on interstate

Ronald Bradford and Paula Bear

Wednesday, June 6, at 2:04 a.m., Jefferson County deputies stopped a vehicle with Idaho license plates at mile marker 845 eastbound on Interstate 10 for a number of traffic violations. Deputies noticed that the stories of the two occupants did not match, and they were both overly nervous. Deputies asked for consent to search the vehicle, but the driver refused.

Port Neches police were called to the scene with a drug detection canine whose positive alert provided probable cause for a search of the vehicle.

A test at the scene determined that the vehicle’s fuel tank contained 16 gallons of liquid methamphetamine.

The male driver Ronald Bradford of Houston and female passenger Paula Bear, also of Houston, were both transported to the Jefferson County Jail where they were booked in for possession of a controlled substance felony of the first degree.
