Gas leak update June 29
Workers attempting to cap a natural gas leak in Orange County have been working through the weekend, the sheriff's office reports.
the workers continue to make significant progress in repairing the leaking well, but still have not been able to render the area safe to allow any displaced residents on Gulf Road or Scales Lane to return home. The sheriff’s office will keep the road blocks in place until company officials verify that the area near the gas leak is safe.
It is still hopeful as work continues today, Sunday, June 29, that the repair will be completed and residents will be able to return home. Once the sheriff’s office receives word that it is safe for residents to return, they will pass this information on to the media and post it on their Facebook page. Residents can also call the sheriff’s office at (409) 883-2612 to receive any updated information.
