Gov. Perry Appoints Arkeen as Judge of 128th District Court

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Courtney Burch-Arkeen of Orange as judge of the 128th District Court in Orange County for a term to expire at the next general election.

Arkeen is an attorney in private practice. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Jefferson County Bar Association, Southeast Texas Trial Lawyer’s and Criminal Defense Lawyer’s associations and Vidor Chamber of Commerce. She is a member and past president of the Orange County Bar Association and Jefferson County Young Lawyer’s Association. She is also a board member of the Lamar State College Orange Foundation, a member and past chair of the Cattle Baron’s Ball benefitting the American Cancer Society, a board member of the Jefferson County Pro Bono Program, and a past member of the Texas State University System Legislative Committee and Junior League of Beaumont.

Arkeen received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and a law degree from University of Houston Law Center.

This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
