It was another banner year for entertainment in Southeast Texas with an especially long list of musical acts that featured performances by Sir Elton John at Ford Park, the iconic Morrissey at the Julie Rogers Theatre, an acoustic performance by 3 Doors Down at the historic Jefferson Theatre, Grammy winning rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony at the Dixie Dance Hall, and Disney sensation Zendaya dancing and singing in front of thousands of screaming fans at the Beaumont Civic Center.

With both Houston and Lake Charles just a hop, skip and a jump away, we also captured performances by Tom Jones, the Counting Crows, Steel Panther, Jared Leto and his band 30 Seconds to Mars, and countless others.

It looks as if 2015 could surpass those monumental performances as the concert docket has already begun to fill up throughout the area. Big things are happening downtown beginning Jan. 21 with Liverpool Legends — the ultimate Beatles tribute — at the Jefferson, plus Elvis Lives on Feb. 10 at the Julie, and funnyman Ron “Tater Salad” White is slated for April 23, also at the Jefferson.

The newest venture of “Nutty” Jerry Nelson is already making waves with Jerry Nelson’s Hill Country inside the Gateway Shopping Center. The venue, which will have a one-of-a-kind restaurant opening soon, has already had several-sold out concerts and has a slew on the books for the new year.

Ford Park has announced comedian Chris Tucker for April 11 inside Ford Arena, and popular country act Jason Aldean returns for the “Burn It Down Tour” on May 15 outside at Ford Pavilion.

Let’s not forget our casinos, such as Delta Downs in Vinton, La. Upcoming performances include Crystal Gayle (Jan. 17), Mickey Gilley (Feb. 14) and Loretta Lynn (March 21).

The newest to Lake Charles — the Golden Nugget — is wasting no time as Leann Rimes (Jan. 17), Merle Haggard (Jan. 31) and two nights with Alabama (Feb. 6-7) are booked in the event center.
