Gun cache: investigators seize weapons during warrant search

Local law enforcers executing a narcotics search warrant in the 3100 block of Gulf Street in Beaumont reportedly found meth, marijuana and a cache of weapons - weapons that officers believe could be related to recent gun violence in the area.

Sgt. Cody Guedry reports that officers with the Beaumont Police Narcotics Division, SWAT and Criminal Investigations Division executed a narcotics search warrant in the 3100 block of Gulf Street at 6:30 a.m. July 7. Guedry stated that officers gathered intelligence and learned that the residence had felony suspects inside along with a cache of weapons.

Upon entry of the residence, officers detained three suspects and, during the search, located a wide variety of guns along with quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana. Guedry said charges are expected to come at a later date as detectives further investigate.

"These weapons are possibly linked to other incidents of violence throughout the city, and we will continue working hard to remove guns from criminals," Guedry stated.

The investigation is ongoing.

If you have any information in reference to any illegal activity involving guns, police ask that you please contact Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477).
