Guns, drugs and cash seized in South Park raid
With the help of undercover officers with the Beaumont Police Department’s narcotics division, SWAT and other investigators, police made a sizable drug bust near Lavaca and Avenue A in Beaumont on Friday morning, March 22.
Upon entering the home, police found almost every drug under the sun.
“These are surveillance cameras that were set up,” said one unnamed undercover officer, pointing to at least eight surveillance cameras police seized. “The site was fortified with burglar bars and high fences. We had powder cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy and marijuana.”
The undercover officer said the street value of the cocaine was about $10,000 and the value of the other drugs was about $12,000 to $13,000. Along with the drugs, police found at least $10,000 in cash.
Police also collected a .38 revolver and a .45 caliber handgun with extended clip at the scene.
The undercover officer said at least one of the two men has a prior criminal history.
“They were both booked in the county jail,” he said. “One will be there a while ‘cause he was on parole.”
No one was injured in the raid, but undercover officers said they’re always prepared for the worst when executing narcotics warrants.
“When you go to make one, you have an idea of what’s gonna be in there, but you never know for sure,” he said.
