Homeless man shot in foot downtown

A homeless man told police that he was shot by a passenger in a white Chevrolet on according to Beaumont Police.

Sunday, Dec. 10 at 12:25 a.m., Beaumont Police officers responded the 1000 block of Mcfaddin Avenue in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A 35 year old transient male was located with a gunshot wound to his right foot, Officer Carol Riley said in a statement.

The victim and witnesses said the victim got into an argument with several black males in a white Chevrolet Avalanche. The victim told officers that the unknown suspects asked if anyone had picked up a pack of cigarettes they dropped in the area. The victim and the witnesses told them they didn’t have the cigarettes.

The victim then got into an argument with the suspects. The suspects sped off and fired approximately 4 to 5 shots. The victim said he felt the suspects were just trying to scare him, but realized he had been hit by one of the bullets on his right foot. The victim did not have much of a description of the suspects.

A witness said there were four suspects in the vehicle, but only the driver and front seat passenger were involved in the incident. The witness said the front seat passenger was the shooter.

Riley said the suspect has been described as a black male, 20-30 years of age, dark, with some facial hair on his chin, wearing a black or navy blue bandana around his head with a white tank type shirt. The driver was described as a black male, 20-30 years of age, wearing a red shirt with a dark hoody underneath. The suspect vehicle was a white Chevrolet Avalanche with significant damage on the driver side of the vehicle.
