Hurt woman found on highway dies days later

Jessica Talmadge, 29, of Buna was pronounced deceased Monday, July 16 after being found on the shoulder of Highway 12 in Orange County on the morning of Saturday, July 14. 

According to a statement by Texas Department of Public Safety at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of an injured woman on the improved shoulder of Highway 12 in Orange County.

DPS Troopers responded to the area of Highway 12 and FM 1136.  Troopers located Talmadge lying on the westbound shoulder of Highway 12 with severe injuries.

Talmadge was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital on Saturday; however, she did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel the morning of Monday, July 16.

DPS Troopers and the Criminal Investigations Division of the Orange County Sheriff's Office are working together to uncover evidence that will assist in finding out how and why Talmadge was left injured on the side of the road.
