I-10 reopens

Eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 near the Texas-Louisiana that were closed due to flooding have reopened, Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Sarah Dupre announced in a news release March 18.

In a separate statement from Beaumont Fire-Rescue Capt. Brad Penisson, he explained, "Interstate 10 is now completely open in both directions after its closure due to floodwaters from the Sabine River spilling over the highway."

While I-10 has reopened, Dupre said March 20 State Highway 12 will remained closed at this time except to Deweyville residents.

Newton County Judge Truman Dougharty warned that DPS Troopers remain at checkpoints, and identification would be required to enter the highway.
