ID made for body found in Neches in May 2013
UPDATE: The body that was located in the Neches River on May 16, 2013, has been positively identified as Jose Guadaloupe Perez Campos, 34, of Calcasieu Parish. The investigation is ongoing as authorities await the final autopsy results for cause of death. According to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, an unidentified body was found on the Neches River south of the Interstate 10 Purple Heart Memorial Bridge on Thursday, May 16.
The Sheriff’s office received a call from a local fisherman at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Thursday regarding the discovery. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Marine Division located the body, and the deceased person’s remains were recovered with the assistance of the Beaumont Fire Department Dive Team.
JCSO personnel indicated they would not be able to give race or sex until the autopsy is complete due to the condition of the remains. The body was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue and is awaiting autopsy.
