Intersection at East Lavaca, MLK to close

Effective Monday, December 14, 2015, the intersection of East Lavaca Street with M.L. King Jr. Parkway (Spur 380) Northbound Service Road will be closed to all traffic beginning at 7 a.m. This closure will remain until Friday, January 15, 2016. This closure will allow the South Park Drainage Improvement project to install new storm sewer facilities, relocate existing utilities, and repave the street.

Local traffic will be able to take the Lavaca exit northbound, but will be directed West on Virginia Avenue and will need to continue down Rolfe-Christopher Drive, Jim Gilligan Way, and Jimmy Simmons Boulevard to reach East Lavaca Street. Additionally, a lane across the bridge on East Lavaca Street will remain open to traffic to provide motorists access to M.L. King Jr. Parkway (Spur 380) northbound.

Motorists are asked to be aware of all detour signs, advance warnings including other signage, and travel with caution.
