Jasper police arrest four during narcotics raids

A team including Jasper SWAT officers raided two locations Jan. 18 and confiscated $1000's in cash and drugs, the Jasper Police Department reports. Four people were arrested in connection to the search warrants. 

According to a news release from Lt. G.W. Foster, the Jasper Police Department Narcotics Division, agents from the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigative Division and the Drug Enforcement Agency along with the Jasper Police Department SWAT Team executed two narcotics search warrants, at the Econo Lodge motel located at 612 W. Gibson and at a residence located at 1212 Fletcher St. in Jasper. Foster reports that the warrants were issued as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Jasper PD Narcotics Division, DPS and the DEA. A search of the above locations and of the vehicles driven by the suspects yielded several thousand dollars in cash, drug paraphernalia, hydroponic marijuana, Promethazine and Codeine cough syrup (also known as lean and syrup), powder and crack cocaine, and methamphetamine. During the operation, officers also seized a loaded handgun.

As a result of the lengthy multi-agency investigation, Foster stated in the news release, the following individuals were arrested during the raids:

Joshua Johnson, age 29, of Jasper, whose charges include: second-degree felony possession of a firearm by a felon, state jail felony possession of a controlled substance, second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance, class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana;

Derrodrick Hadnot, age 20, of Jasper, who is charged with possession of a controlled substance at the state jail felony level; 

Jamarcus Reed, age 20, of Jasper, who is charged with a class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana;

and Alexander Bailey, age 26, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, who was arrested on an outstanding a warrant.
