Jasper train wreck; tractor trailer collides with train
DPS is investigating a crash involving a freight train and an 18-wheeler on Recreational Road 255 (RR 255) in Jasper County at about 3:22 p.m. on Monday, March 10, Trooper Stephanie Davis reports.
According to a news release from Trooper Davis, the train, operated by Timberrock Railroad Company, was traveling along its tracks crossing RR 255 when it was struck by the tractor trailer driven by Markeim Reliford of Call. According to Call, he was traveling westbound on RR 255 when his brakes failed. Call jumped out of the 2005 Peterbilt truck tractor he was driving before it struck the train. He was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital with "non-life threatening injuries," Trooper Davis reports. No other information is available at this time.
