Jefferson County sheriff announces bid for re-election

Before countless friends, family members and fellow law enforcement members, Mitch Woods formally announced Thursday, Dec. 22, his bid for re-election as Jefferson County Sheriff.

The sheriffs of all cities that lie within the county showed up to give their support to his campaign, as did county judge Jeff Branick, commissioner Brent Weaver and former state Senator Carl Parker.

Woods is seeking a fifth term in the 2012 election and said he is proud of the office of deputies he currently supervises.

"I think we've done a wonderful job at the sheriff's office," he said. "We have wonderful employees; wonderful administrators and supervisors; and we want to keep it that way. We have a commitment and dedication to the welfare of the community."
