Judge Gillam shot in Houston, suspect still at large

On Jan. 31, at 10:39 p.m., Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Tom Gillam was a victim of a shooting in Houston, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Capt. Crystal Holmes said in a release.

According to Houston Police, preliminary investigation revealed that Judge Gillam had stopped his car in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 7000 block of Martin Luther King.

Judge Gillam was shot once and transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition. According to the Houston Police Department, the suspect is still at large as the investigation continues. Judge Gillam’s family has been notified.
