Kidnapping leads to arrest

Alfred Marqueal Smith

Alfred Marqueal Smith, a 42-year-old Beaumont man, was arrested on two counts of sexual assault after Beaumont Police Officers responded to the 6300 block of Chinn Lane in reference to two girls that had been kidnapped Monday, September 3, at 2:23 a.m.

According to a press release from BPD, officers spoke with the complainant, and she said that Sunday, September 2, at approximately 10 p.m., she and her fiancé, Smith, went to bed at their residence in the 6300 block of Chinn. Later that night, the complainant noticed that Smith was not in the bed and went to check on him. She discovered that Smith was gone as well as her two daughters, ages 14 and 10. She attempted to call Smith but could not reach him and then called police at approximately 2:23am. She called her eldest daughter's cell phone but got no reply. Smith using her daughter’s phone then contacted her. Smith advised that he had kidnapped her daughters. He advised that he would return them to a safe place and would turn himself in at a later time. Numerous officers spent several hours, exhausting all options in an effort to locate the kidnapped girls. At approximately 6:10 a.m., officers received word that the girls had been recovered at the actor's sister's residence. A short time after that, Smith was located and arrested at 2550 I-10 East in front of club Empire.

Both girls were taken to St Elizabeth hospital to be treated for sexual assault. CPS responded to the hospital.

Smith was transported to the station to speak with detectives and then transported to Jefferson County jail where he was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault. The bond has been set at $250,000 each charge. Case is still under investigation and more charges may be filed.
