Kidnapping in Port Arthur

Two suspects were captured as the result of an aggravated assault and kidnapping that took place in Port Arthur in the early hours of Tuesday morning, July 2.

According to a news release from the Port Arthur Police Department, officers received a call to 2705 Memorial Blvd. in reference to a "frantic female subject." Upon arrival at the scene, officers questioned the woman and learned she had been robbed and kidnapped at gunpoint from her residence in the 1500 block of Augustine Ave. The woman reportedly told police that she and her boyfriend were at the residence when they were accosted by several men who were hiding around the side of the house. The suspects held the woman and her boyfriend at gunpoint and the woman was taken into the house by some of the suspects while the man was help outside by one. Officers suspect the female victim was sexually assaulted.

The suspects then took the woman to an ATM on Memorial Blvd. and demanded money. The woman was able to alert the clerk inside the store and get away at that time. The suspect fled the scene in the victim's vehicle. The woman was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of her injuries. The male victim was not injured.

Officers located two suspects and are questioning them at this time.The names of the victims and suspects have been withheld, and the Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
