Knife-weilding man robs Family Dollar

Detectives are investigating a reported robbery of the Family Dollar Store locatedat 4010 Magnolia St. in Beaumont’s north end.  

The robbery occurred  Thursday, Nov. 29, at about 9 p.m. An employee reported that a man approached the cash register to pay for an item. The clerk rang up the transaction and the man handed her some money.  When the cash register opened, the man pulled out a large knife and reached into the till to grab the money.  The clerk attempted to close the register and the man made a slashing motion toward her but did not cut her.  The clerk stepped back and the man was able to grab cash from the register.  He then left the store and walked away heading north.  

The clerk described the robber as a black male with a dark complexion, about 5-feet-8, weighing about 155 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans with gray pockets and had a scraggly beard.  

Detectives interviewed witnesses and the Beaumont Police Department Crime Scene Unit collected physical and forensic evidence from the scene. When police identify the actor, he will face a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery.
