Landowner finds human remains in Jefferson County

Forensics experts are examining bones in an attempt to identify human remains discovered by a Jefferson County landowner over the weekend, reports the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).

According to a news release from Deputy Marcus McLellan, JCSO dispatchers received a call Dec. 10 at 2:30 p.m. in reference to possible human remains in the 22000 block of Sattler Road in west Jefferson County. McLellan stated that the landowner was clearing land and found bones. He called the sheriff's office out to take a look. Sheriff's investigators traveled to the location and discovered what they believe to be human bones.

Investigators currently do not know if the bones belong to male or female or even how long they have been there. They plan to continue searching the area for any additional remains, reported McLellan.
