Last day to register for WWIII.5 Mud Run
The Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau is thrilled to announce the first annual WWIII.5 Mud Run taking place Saturday, April 30.“WWIII.5 is a 3.5 mile off-road course that features challenging terrain and spectacular obstacles, designed to exhilarate and entertain race participants,” says Jenny Bynum race coordinator. “Unlike other races that rely heavily upon natural land-form obstacles and a few well placed hay bales, we have created a race that they will be talking about for years!”
Participants from throughout Texas and Louisiana will invade Southeast Texas for this unprecedented area event. Awaiting the competitors, are twenty mind-blowing obstacles, each unique and memorable, made to appeal to the hard-core athlete as well as the less experienced runners. Downed airplanes, burned-out buses and abandoned houses are just a few of the challenges participants will face. Live music, prizes, raffles, and complimentary beverages will add to the festivities. "The economic impact to the host community is remarkable,” says Jenny Bynum, coordinator for the mud run. “In previous events we’ve attended, the hotels, restaurants and retail businesses see substantial increases in sales. Runners often have to travel up to an hour between their hotels and the event because the race has filled every available room for 50 miles around the race location,” she continues.
Event registration ends tonight at midnight. The cost to participate in the race is $60 per person and includes t-shirt, food and beverage vouchers and finisher’s medal. A portion of event proceeds will be donated to local high schools Operation Graduation funds for any student, parent or teacher who registers for the race and notes the name of their school in the “how did you hear about us?” field. Host hotels for the event include: Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Beaumont Plaza, Red Roof Inn, Days Inn Beaumont, and Best Western Jefferson Inn.
