LIT to welcome chief of Texas emergency management
Lamar Institute of Technology is readying for a visit from Texas chief of emergency management Nim Kidd, who is scheduled to be the speaker for the 10th annual Salute to The Real American Heroes fundraiser benefiting The LIT Foundation. The event will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Wesley United Methodist Church.
The event, which honors first responders and military personnel, raises funds for scholarships for LIT students who are majoring in criminal justice, emergency medical technology, regional police academy, regional fire academy and homeland security.
Kidd was appointed as chief of emergency management in July 2010. Before his appointment, he worked for the San Antonio Fire Department in various capacities from 1993 until 2004, when he was named the emergency manager and homeland security coordinator for the City of San Antonio.
All first responders and active military that are in uniform and their spouses will be treated to a dinner, provided by the Cooks Two Dozen Plus, Inc. Courville’s will provide the desserts.
