Log truck crashes into woods in Hardin County

UPDATE, 1/9 at 1:40 p.m.: Fifty-five year old Roy Albert Pierson of Livingston was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries following an early morning crash on Highway 327. However, Pierson’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening, DPS PIO Stephanie Davis reported.

On Jan. 9, at approximately 9:30a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a motor vehicle crash, involving a log truck, on Highway 327 in Hardin County, according to a press release from DPS PIO Stephanie Davis. The crash occurred about two miles east of US 69.

A 2001 Peterbuilt truck tractor hauling timber was traveling eastbound on Highway 327. For an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and into the woods.

At this time, the driver of the log truck is alert and emergency personnel are quickly working to safely get him out of the vehicle. The driver is 55 years old and resides in Livingston, Texas.

Currently, all lanes of Highway 327 are open. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area of this crash and to slow down for emergency vehicles.
